Seven children from Valley Stream will be moving on to the second round of the Knights of Columbus free throw competition. The annual basketball event was hosted by the Father Thomas Carroll council last Saturday morning at Holy Name of Mary School.
Participants got to test their skills from the three-point line with 15 chances to make as many baskets as possible. The top shooter in each age group is moving on to the second round, scheduled for Feb. 19. Winners from Floral Park and Hewlett will match up with last weekend’s Valley Stream champions, again at Holy Name school.
There were two dozen participants last Saturday, and the contest was open to boys and girls ages 10-14. It was organized by Knight Jack Wagner.
