Teens robbed at gunpoint on Ethel Street in Valley Stream

Posted

Two teens were robbed late Friday night while walking on Ethel Street by masked gunmen, Nassau County police said.

Police said the boy and girl, both 15, were approached by a female suspect armed with a BB gun who pointed it at them and fired a round into the ground.

They continued walking and were then approached by two men — one armed with a handgun, police said — who threatened to shoot them if they did give up their belongings. According to police, the boy complied and handed over his backpack and the girl refused and moved the handgun that one of the men pointed at her away from her face.

Police said the suspect then punched her in the face and took her backpack. The suspects fled in a silver or gray Honda (believed to be an Accord) eastbound on Ethel Street toward Central Avenue.

Police said they transported the girl, who sustained a contusion and laceration to her nose and mouth, to a local hospital for evaluation.

The female suspect was described as black, 15-16 years old, about 5-foot-5, medium complexion, thin build, straight brown hair in a bun and wearing a blue Adidas sweater. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic man, about 5-foot-4, light complexion, heavy build and wearing a white vendetta phantom mask. The third suspect was described as a Hispanic man, about 5-foot-10, average build, wearing all black clothing and a white vendetta phantom mask. Police said the race and gender of the driver of the Honda was unknown. The victims’ backpacks, which contained school books, credit cards and cell phone, were recovered in the vicinity of 270 W. Jamaica Ave.
