Halloween costume concert
This spooktacular event, entitled “Kids in Motion with Lee Knight” encourages children to dress up in their Halloween costumes. The concert is scheduled to last from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 20 in meeting room 2 at the Elmont Public Library. It includes music, songs, rhymes and games for children from 6 months to pre-school age. No registration is required. Contact the children’s librarian at 354-5280 ext. 1005 for more information.
"Star Wars" Reads Day
A showing of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will take place at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. The event will include “Star Wars” books on display, crafts, coloring sheets and a raffle for a “Star Wars” basket. Haunted Hendrickson's house of horror
A hair-raising Halloween event is slated for Hendrickson Park on Oct. 14, 15, 21 and 22. Tickets cost $10 and will go on sale at 6 p.m. The haunting is slated for 7-11 p.m. on all four days and is rain or shine. A portion of the proceeds will go toward Valley Stream youth sports.
