Valley Stream kindergartners enjoy Thanksgiving

Posted

The Washington Avenue Kindergarten Center held a Thanksgiving feast last Wednesday afternoon. Students from the three classes gathered in the school’s all-purpose room to sing a few songs and enjoy a hearty lunch.

Children dressed up as pilgrims and Native Americans in costumes they made in class. Superintendent Dr. Elaine Kanas, Principal John Singleton and Assistant Principal Yannie Chon helped teachers and staff members serve food to the students, which included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, muffins and apple sauce.

Kindergarten teacher Mela Golfo said each class prepared part of the meal. She said the feast is an traditional at the kindergarten center the day before Thanksgiving.
