Valley Stream wins Little League district title

The Valley Stream Little League Senior Boys team has won back-to-back District 20 championships.

The Valley Stream Little League Senior Boys team defeated Malverne in the District 29 championship on July 20 at Firemen's Field. It was the second straight district title for the team.
Leading Valley Stream in the 9-1 victory was Ricky Grosso, who gave up just one hit and one run in 6 1/3 innings while striking out nine batter. For the offense, third basemen Brandon Wilder had a two-run single, and Jason Cooper had a triple and a run scored.
Coach Ray Russo said every player contributed to the win and he was very proud of the team's accomplishment. The team is made up of 15- and 16-year-old boys.
The team's next game is Saturday in the Bronx to vie for the Section 5 championship banner.
