We should expect more of the same

The election is over, signs still clutter. Eventually, the same groups will continue their ways. Our county representative is still there, as he has been for years. We get his biannual, multi-colored postcard lauding his past efforts, i.e. the farm he bought. I think it’s the public that bought it years before. The card said nothing about the county’s plight, the scandal of the police crime lab, its rape of the public. You wonder who runs the Police Department. It’s not the county executive. Where is the accountability?

Ethics in government seem lacking. Those in power and their followers cover their tracks by contracts, Taylor and Wicks laws. Lawyers get pensions and benefits never earned, dishonest work rules, false disability claims. Those in power use the spoils system and use the vote to keep it their way. The MTA and now the Port Authority have used laws to enrich themselves using these rules. These laws are votes for the elected by the public worker and a sellout of the public.

We seem to be becoming a third-world country like Greece and Italy. The elected have sold out to the power players, especially the government lobbies. There is no accountability demanded of our representatives. They want their votes. Greed abounds.
