A sixth-grade Wheeler Ave. School student’s artwork will be featured as part of an exhibit titled “Colors of Long Island” at the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook that will run from Feb. 27 to April 26.

Sara Roopnarine’s untitled mixed media image was selected for the museum’s annual student art exhibition after her art teacher, Christine Caruso, submitted the piece for consideration. Art teachers on Long Island were allowed to submit up to three of their students’ pieces for the exhibit.

The Long Island Museum is a Smithsonian affiliate that is “dedicated to American history and art with a Long Island connection,” according to its website.
