The Valley Stream Baseball League honored players in its two youngest divisions at a Trophy Day ceremony on July 20 at Firemen’s Field.
Teams from Sluggers and Sandlot divisions received their trophies. The Sluggers Division, a tee-ball league for ages 4 and 5, was won by the undefeated Nationals. The Sandlot Division is for ages 6 and 7, and coaches do the pitching. The championship was won by the Blue Jays.
All families in the Baseball League received a subscription to the Valley Stream Herald, which featured weekly updates on the league during the 2013 season. The Herald presented a $5,000 donation to the VSBL during the ceremony.
The top teams from the Wright, Rivera and Jeter divisions will be recognized at the annual championship dinner in the fall.
