Far Rockaway man suspected of bogus renting in North Woodmere

Claims he is a victim of a phony landlord

Far Rockaway man was arrested by Nassau County Fourth Squad detectives on June 21, for an alleged scheme to defraud at least three people.

According to police, Vernon Glass, 32, of Beach 68th Street, entered a vacant house at 36 Rosedale Road in North Woodmere on April 1. Police said, he changed the door locks and turned on the electrical system, which resulted in damage to several walls.

Glass then allegedly rented out the residence to three people and collected rent, acting as the home’s landlord. He is being charged with two counts of burglary third-degree, grand larceny third-degree, criminal mischief third-degree, criminal mischief second-degree and scheme to defraud second.
