Wantagh and Seaford residents took advantage of the snow-coated hills at Cedar Creek Park on Sunday, where more than 500 residents stopped by the Seaford park on Merrick Road to go sledding and play in the snow.

A nor’easter hit Wantagh and Seaford last Friday night into Saturday, bringing with it plenty of snow and heavy winds. Seaford had a total of roughly 13.2 inches of snow, according to a estimate from the National Weather Service. Wantagh had a total of 14 inches.

County and town officials had described road conditions as “dangerous” and warned motorists to stay home. New York State Governor Kathy Hochul had declared a state of emergency in New York that began at 8 p.m. last Friday.
