Heavy rains Tuesday night into Wednesday morning caused severe flooding at several locations in Wantagh.
Beltagh Stream near Wantagh High School overflowed its banks, and Mill Pond spread beyond its normal boundaries. Much of the park at Duckpond Drive in North Wantagh was under water.
There was also flooding on the Wantagh State Parkway near the Sunrise Highway exit, shutting down that part of the highway for several hours. The rain also briefly shut down the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway between Exits 7 and 8, but it re-opened by late Wednesday morning.
