Residents have fun in the sun at picnic

Community members packed their chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and made their way to Wantagh Park on June 3 for a special spring celebration. 

The Wantagh Lions Club sponsored the third annual Community Picnic. Residents young and old flocked to the park for six hours of entertainment. 

Lions manned barbecues, cooking up hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages and more seasonal treats. Residents also brought their own snacks, setting up their spread on the field while children played everything from soccer to board games. 

Members of the Miss Wantagh Court painted kids’ faces after the youngsters hopped around on bounce houses. Children also had the chance to sing and dance with a slew of performers on an outdoor stage. 

Members of the Chamber of Commerce and the Wantgah Fire Department Explorers were also on hand to greet neighbors. Picnic attendees had the chance to win plenty of prizes as well.
