New York American Water appoints new president

Tierno is the third president of NYAW within the past three years

Carmen Tierno, a senior director of New Jersey American Water’s southwest district operations was named president of New York American Water effective March 1. Tierno replaces Brian Bruce, who has been named president of West Virginia American Water. He is the third president the water company has had in the past three years.

Tierno was with New Jersey American Water for 20 years in various capacities and prior to that, with the Philadelphia Water Department. As senior director for NJAM, Tierno was responsible for safety, transmission and distribution, field customer service, meter reading, and the overall performance of New Jersey American Water operations in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties.

Tierno has an MBA from Rutgers University and his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Widener University.
