Salute To Veterans
The iconic band Blood, Sweat and Tears headlines the Town of Hempstead’s Annual Independence Day Salute, at Point Lookout. Re-live the group’s many hits, including “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” “Spinning Wheel” “And When I Die.” Then it’s time for a colorful patriotic display of pyrotechnics.

The Sorcerer
The Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island’s new production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s early full-length opera is being performed once again this weekend. The show features a cast of 25 performers and the critically acclaimed 18-piece Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Orchestra. The charming story revolves around the betrothal of Alexis and Aline, who are so in love that they want to help everyone feel the way they do. The score includes such Gilbert and Sullivan classics as “My Name Is John Washington Wells,” “Time Was When Love And I Were Acquainted” and “Now To The Banquet We Press.”

Stepping Back In Time

‘Model A’ Ford Day
Relive those first glorious days of the automobile. There’s plenty to see at the annual exhibition of the vehicles that helped begin modern age of the auto, which was rescheduled from earlier this month. Examine over 60 historic Model A Fords displayed at Old Bethpage Village’s Fairgrounds, which is a recreation of the old Mineola Fairgrounds, where Model A cars were a common site during the 1930s. Also enjoy the vintage sounds of the Old Bethpage Village Brass Band, at 2 and 3:15 p.m.
