Crime watch: theft

Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct report the following incidents in Lakeview and West Hempstead:

Grand Larceny — Motor Vehicle
    A car was stolen from a driveway on Emereson Drive in West Hempstead some time  between 7:30 and 9:20 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1.

Grand Larceny
    Personal items and a laptop computer were taken from a car parked on Chamberlain Road in West Hempstead some time between midnight and 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1.

Larceny/Theft Offenses

  • A laptop was taken from a vehicle, which was left unlocked, on Sycamore Street in West Hempstead some time between midnight on Sunday, July 31, and 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1.
  • The left tire and a rim were taken from a car parked on New York Avenue in West Hempstead at some point between 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
  • A tire and rim were also taken from a vehicle parked on Jackson Avenue in West Hempstead between midnight and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
  • A GPS was taken from a car parked on Langdon Boulevard in Lakeview between 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, and 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
  • A GPS was also taken from a car that was left unlocked and parked on Stratford Road in West Hempstead between 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2.    
  • Another GPS was taken from a car parked on Sunapee Road in West Hempstead between 4 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 31.


Criminal Mischief
    A resident of Arden Boulevard in West Hempstead reported that someone had spray painted his garage and patio, causing damage, and left empty beer cans and bottles in his backyard sometime between noon on Friday, Aug. 5, and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7.
