Pump It Up, a fun-filled indoor arena filled with humongous inflatable bounce houses, slides, obstacle courses and more, held its grand opening on Jan. 30. While it specializes in children's birthday parties, Pump It Up can host many other events. There is virtually no age limit. This 6,000 square foot facility is the newest Pump It Up franchise on Long Island.

Whether it's a party, fundraiser, corporate team-building function, school field trip or Scout troop event, the coordinating staff will help you plan it. Setup and cleanup will be included. Food (kosher or non-kosher), beverages, balloons, novelties and goodie bags, depending on the package one chooses, are all part of the options. In addition to celebrating events, Pump It Up offers special times for children to come in for free play and structured programs.

PumpStart, for example, is a Mommy & Me type of program for children who are from 2- to 5-years old. Weekly structured playtime is scheduled, incorporating bouncing, jumping, sing-alongs, games and other age-appropriate activities.

Specific times are set aside for Pop-in Playtime, which features two hours of open bouncing time. Children can slide, jump and play while their parents socialize. The environment is kept clean, safe, climate-controlled and well-attended.

Depending on the number of guests invited and the day of the week, a variety of birthday party packages are available to choose from. All parties can include pizza and drinks. One may bring a cake or Pump It Up will provide one. Upgraded parties can include hamburgers, franks and chicken fingers, which come with fries. Full Italian and kosher menus are available for parents, or for adult events. One can customize goodie bags, choosing from simple novelties to ones that are much more elaborate.

Yet another exciting option is the Glow Party, where lights are turned off and replaced by black lights, disco balls, lasers and messenger lights (personalized writing projected onto the walls). The birthday child gets a glow-in-the-dark tee shirt, and the other children get glowing necklaces and bracelets. All this takes place as the children bounce and play.

Bouncing hours are currently 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The arena will remain open until midnight if a later event is requested.
