JCC launches new website

In celebration of its 60 years in the community and just in time for Hanukkah, the Jewish Community Center of West Hempstead recently launched its redesigned website, offering what it calls a “fresh, exciting and reinvigorating community presence on the web.”

The “creatively tweaked” website, www.jccwh.org, serves a variety of purposes, according to webmaster Seth Bykofsky. In addition to posting events and happenings at the synagogue, the website offers entrée to organizations serving the community, Bykofsky said. It posts the synagogue newsletter The Bulletin, of which Bykofsky is editor, news services and social networking media: visitors can find the temple’s Facebook page and Twitter site there.

“As we kindle the candles in the Menorah, celebrating the eight days of Chanukah,” Bykofsky said, “we rekindle our essence and spirit in cyberspace, celebrating 60 years of the JCC.”

The center’s president, Richie Selzer, said the website “shall serve as a beacon to the world,” as one does not have to be Conservative (or even Jewish) to visit and enjoy the website or check out The Bulletin.

Submissions to both the synagogue website and The Bulletin, by way of announcements, notices, letters and tales from the Talmud (as well as topics of less Biblical proportions) are always welcome. Email the webmaster/editor at JCCeditor@aol.com, or send your musings to the temple office at jccinfo@optonline.net.

The Jewish Community Center of West Hempstead, a Conservative, egalitarian synagogue, is located at 711 Dogwood Ave. in West Hempstead.
