Nassau County police are searching for a gunman involved in a shooting in Lakeview on June 8.

According to police, around 5:09 p.m., a 30-year-old man withdrew money from an ATM in a store on Woodfield Road. Afterward, the man stood with friends on Bee Gee Court, police said. That was when, police said, he was approached by a black male, between 18 to 22 years of age, who was wearing khaki pants, a white t-shirt and red baseball hat.

Police said that the suspect displayed an automatic handgun and demanded the 30-year-old's property. The victim grabbed the suspect's arm, and the suspect fired his weapon.  Police said when the victim stepped back, the suspect pointed the gun at his face and fired a shot, striking the victim in the hand.  As the suspect fled, he fired the weapon again, striking the victim in the shoulder.

The suspect was last seen running north on Woodfield Road, police said.

The victim was transported by Nassau County ambulance to an area hospital for treatment, where he is listed in stable condition.
