Re-elect Ambrosino in 2nd Council District

Posted

The Herald encourages voters in the Town of Hempstead 2nd Councilmatic District to support incumbent Edward Ambrosino, a Republican first elected in 2003 to a seat that represents portions of Bellerose, Elmont, Franklin Square, Hempstead, North Valley Stream and West Hempstead.

Ambrosino has proven his passion for the district and its issues. Known for being outspoken and honest, he was instrumental in the effort to tear down the Courtesy Hotel in West Hempstead, a crime-ridden eyesore that community residents fought to bring down for 15 years. He has also been a proponent of much-needed new housing in the community, including plans for mixed-use development created by the Elmont Coalition for Sustainable Development, which he serves as co-chair.

Ambrosino has disparaged the stringent town zoning codes that have held back new development in the district, and the town’s lack of urgency when it comes to permitting progressive expansion, and he has made it a point to work with town officials to revamp the zoning code during his next term.

A proponent of business and smart growth, he has pushed for recently developed plans to bolster the district’s economy, including the Belmont Park casino and Coliseum reconstruction. As a business owner — he founded Amber Rose Productions, a nonprofit community theater production company, and helped found Municipal Solutions Group LLC, a municipal consulting and re-engineering entity — he has the knowledge and experience necessary to effectively fight for business improvement.

On top of all of this, Ambrosino knows the law. He is a practicing attorney, and counsel to Ruskin Moscou Faltischek P.C. in Uniondale.

Patricia Locurcio, the Democratic challenger, did not respond to the Herald’s requests for information.

In the eight years since he joined the town board, Ambrosino has proven himself deserving of another term, and we urge 2nd Council District residents to cast their votes for him on Nov. 8.
