Nassau police are investigating a cell phone robbery that took place Oct. 14 in Lakeview.

According to detectives, a 17-year-old female was walking at the intersection of Tanglewood Avenue and Yale Avenue when she was punched in the face by an unknown man. The man then picked up the victim’s cell phone, which had fallen to the ground, and started to walk away. The victim followed, demanding her cell phone back, at which point the man displayed a black taser, turned it on and threatened to use it.

The victim continued to follow the subject onto Lakeview Road, when a 27-year-old woman assisted the victim by following the man in her vehicle and was able to convince the man to return the cell phone.

The man then fled the scene. The young girl refused medical assistance.

The man is described as a light-skinned black male, with a thin build, about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
