Town re-opens Echo Park Pool Complex in West Hempstead after $200K refurbishment

Closed for about three weeks, the Echo Park Pool Complex in West Hempstead re-opened on Jan. 22. In addition to the general maintenance that takes place annually at this time of year, several major projects were completed as part of the approximately $208,000 refurbishment.
Hempstead Town Supervisor Laura Gillen and Councilman Bruce Blakeman toured the brighter and more inviting Echo Park Pool Complex just days before it re-opened to inspect the recently completed work.
“I have such great memories of using the Echo Park Pool when I was growing up,” Blakeman said. “It is great to see its current stellar condition and how it just keeps getting better each year.”
“One of the most unique features that Hempstead Town offers is an indoor pool facility,” Gillen said. “The work that has been completed will make this gem shine even brighter.”
Among those improvements were resurfaced men’s and women’s locker rooms, weight rooms, steam room walls and shower areas, refinished and resurfaced diving boards, new lockers in the men’s room and LED overhead pool lights. Additionally, new sinks were installed in the men’s and women’s locker rooms, steam room benches were rebuilt and pumps were replaced.

“As Hempstead Town’s only indoor swimming facility,” Blakeman said, “Echo Park is a real asset to all our residents and, of course, because it is right in the backyard of our West Hempstead neighbors, they are able to really enjoy the benefits of the fitness complex. From the weight room to the sauna to the year-round aquatic, physical fitness and cultural arts programs, there really is something for everyone at Echo Park.”
Echo Park is located at 399 Nassau Boulevard, West Hempstead. The indoor pool and fitness complex is open to all Town of Hempstead residents. Other than this brief closure each winter, the facility is open seven days a week, year round. The complex is also the location of year-round aquatic, physical fitness and cultural arts programs.
