The West Hempstead Chiefs Soccer Club’s TOPSoccer program held its final practice last Saturday at the George Washington Elementary School field.

In addition to the final practice, the children were awarded trophies in a Trophy Day ceremony for their participation in the six-week program for children with disabilities. Dozens of children, volunteers and parents came out for the Trophy Day event and to watch as the kids practiced and held their last scrimmage.

Lauren Lee, co-president of the West Hempstead SEPTA, brought the TOPSoccer program to the district this year and, seeing its success, hopes to bring it back again next year. Overall, she said, the response from parents, volunteers and the children themselves has been great.
