Veterans remembered in Malverne, West Hempstead

Posted

After two years of Memorial Day parades being cancelled due to rain, veterans of Malverne and West Hempstead proudly paraded through their respective communities during this year’s ceremonies.
In Malverne, veterans from American Legion Post 44 — along with Malverne High School’s marching band, the Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Boy Scouts and the Malverne Fire Department, among other groups — began the march at Church Street, and paraded throughout the village.
In West Hempstead’s parade, veterans from West Hempstead American Legion — along with the West Hempstead School District’s Board of Education, the West Hempstead Community Support Association, Boy Scouts, first responders and many other groups — began their march at St. Thomas the Apostle Chapel. A ceremony was held at Echo Park where residents took time to remember our fallen veterans.
