Volunteers grabbed their rakes and garbage bags Sun. April 24 to lend a helping hand to spruce up Hall’s Pond Park in West Hempstead, for Earth Day weekend.

The event is held twice a year and is hosted by the West Hempstead Community Support Association and co-sponsored by Nassau County legislators John Giuffrè and Laura Schaffer.

“The bi-annual cleaning of Hall’ Pond is a way for us to bring community members and organizations together to help in beautifying the pond,” WHCS President Maureen Greenberg said.

Giuffrè said he was glad to help preserve one of Nassau County’s foremost parks.

“Hall’s Pond Park is one of the jewels of Nassau County,” Giuffrè said.
