From Bach to contemporary sounds, there's music for all tastes this weekend

New Music V
Three Adelphi faculty members – Linda Wetherill, flutist; Susan Jolles, principal harpist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra; and William Zito, guitarist in both the classical and the contemporary repertoire – take to the stage for an evening of contemporary music. They’ll perform the New York premiere of Aforismo for guitar and bass flute by Alfredo del Monaco, the world premiere of Seven Meditations on Tibet for flute, harp, and guitar by Carman Moore, the world premiere of a work for solo guitar by Richard Brooks, and the world premiere of Beyond Solitude by Gregory H. Aslani, featuring a guest performance of the Noavaran Ensemble, specialists in Persian classical and folk music.

Concert Gala

1920s Sounds
Celebrate the music of the 1920s and 1930s when the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company presents its annual fundraising gala, “Shake The Blues Away.” More than 20 members of the opera company perform popular music from 1924-1934, with the South Shore Syncopators Dance Orchestra.

Musical Cuisine

J.S. Bach Masterworks
Hear J.S. Bach’s concerto masterpieces for violin and piano, as part of Chamber Players International’s brunch and concert series. This program features four Bach concertos, by Anna Rabinova, a member of the New York Philharmonic, on violin, with pianist Tatiana Goncharova. They are accompanied by a chamber ensemble.
