Joseph Garcia, 27, of West Hempstead, was arrested early Saturday morning after driving into a police car while under the influence of alcohol, officials said.

At about 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 21, according to police reports, Garcia was driving under the influence and speeding on Nassau Boulevard in a 2004 Hyundai before it collided into a marked police car.

The police officer was later treated at a hospital for neck and back pain.

Garcia was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 22 on charges of third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, two counts of driving while intoxicated and speeding.
