Mark Romanowski joined the Albertson Soccer Club’s elite academy team in the fall of 2011, when he entered his junior year at South Side High School in Rockville Centre. The decision did not come easily for Romanowski, who is now 17 and a senior at South Side. He had played for the Rockville Centre Soccer Club since he was in third grade, and he loved his club. more

Hidden away in room 111 at the Baldwin Senior High School is a café that’s brewing up much more than coffee. The location isn’t great — Cup-o-Joe is wedged between a bathroom and an elevator — and the baristas can’t whip you up a low-fat, half-caff latte with extra foam and cinnamon. But that’s not really what this establishment is all about. It is, rather, a place where special education students in BHS’s Life Skills program can gain real-world work experience in a safe and familiar space. more
Dominick Famularo, 85, as beloved a figure as you’ll find in Baldwin, finally received his high school diploma last week. It was bestowed at a special Board of Education meeting that also celebrated the service of retiring district personnel. more
Former New York Giant Keith Davis and former New England Patriot Devin Wyman served as keynote speakers when the Winners Inc. program visited Baldwin High School on May 25. The appearance was spearheaded by the efforts of Assemblyman Brian Curran (R - Lynbrook,) who felt that the presence of the two distinguished speakers would bolster spirits in Baldwin. more
