Nassau County Police responding to reports of shots fired in Baldwin found one male, Anthony Richard, 22, dead, and a second unidentified male wounded on the night of July 15.

Police said investigations into the incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m., were ongoing. They confirmed that Richard, a student at Nassau Community College, was found near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Adams Street, adding that the second individual was discovered a few blocks away near Grand and Lincoln.

Reports the day after the shooting indicated the dead man was a 22-year-old who was sitting in a black Mercedes Benz automobile when he was shot. Various sources indicated the second man was also in the car, but escaped despite multiple gunshot wounds, and banged on the door of a nearby home. Police said the neighbor did not admit the wounded man for reasons of personal safety, but did call 911 to summon help. NCP officials said the injured man was transported to the hospital in serious condition, but further information was not available as of this report.

No arrests have yet been made in the incident. The roads in the area of Baldwin where the shooting took place were blocked off for investigation well into the day Monday.
