Baldwin’s Daniel Kareem, of Victoria Street, was arrested in connection with a supposed gunpoint robbery just after midnight on the morning of Oct. 2. Detective Mistretta of the First Squad, who reported details of the incident, said Kareem, along with James Jackson of Huntington Station and Dominick Etienne of Freeport approached three victims, a male, 23, and two 21-year-old females, on Barth Drive late on Oct. 1. According to the police report, “Jackson displayed what appeared to be a handgun while Kareem ordered the victims to empty their pockets and lie on the ground.” The three victims complied with these commands, police said, and the suspects fled on foot after taking their wallets and cell phones.

According to Mistretta’s statement, “First Precinct officers along with Bureau of Special Operations officers responded to the area and located the defendants driving in a 2008 Volkswagen Passat.” The police report says the vehicle was stopped on N. Brookside Road and the suspects were placed under arrest. A BB gun, along with items identified as belonging to the victims were recovered from the car. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The suspects are charged with robbery in the second degree. Jackson and Etienne, but not the Baldwin local, Kareem, have been charged with criminal possession of stolen property. The suspects will be arraigned on Oct. 2 at First District Court in Hempstead.
