BOCES Barry Tech student finds her focus

Posted

BOCES senior Edwina Jean of Baldwin said she knew as far back as ninth grade that she wanted to go into medicine. But settling on a particular area was more problematic.

Her studies at BOCES Barry Tech in Westbury helped her narrow down her search.

Now in her second year at Barry Tech, Jean, 17, said she found that she “liked clinical experience best.”

As a student in the physical therapy branch, she said, she “got to know people and understand how injuries affect their lives and how much doctors impact their lives. It’s a nice thing to witness.”

The daughter of Germaine and David Jean said she has ultimately decided not to pursue the physical therapy end of medicine, but she said she still wants to continue with her medical studies.
