Looking For An Echo
Hear some great oldies tunes when “‘Looking for an Echo’ – The Sound of Doo Wop and Rock ‘n’ Roll” visits the Hofstra University stage. The show pays tribute to the best of doo wop and the origins of rock ‘n roll. The evening includes performances from a line-up of some of early rock ‘n roll’s favorites: The Brooklyn Bridge, The Del-Satins, The Clusters and Tony Ferrari’s Chaperone Salute, and The Midlife Crisis Band.

Festival By The Sea
Greet fall at the Town of Hempstead’s annual beachside extravaganza. The festival features concert bands, craft and novelty vendors, sand sculptures, eating contests, an exciting line-up of children’s shows, and tasty treats. The many activities will keep kids busy all day long, including puppet shows, circus clowns, pony rides, a petting zoo, and Cool Science presentations. Visitors can stroll the boardwalk to water’s edge to “dig” the sand castle contest. You can also satisfy your “appetite” for fun by getting a “taste” of the Clam and Rib Eating Contests on Saturday at 1 p.m.

In Concert

Old Bethpage Brass Band
Journey back to Civil War days when the Old Bethpage Village Brass Band re-creates the stirring sight and sounds of a mid-19th century American brass band, dressed in period costumes. Hear patriotic selections including “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “When Johnny Comes Marching Home” to Stephen Foster tunes, as well as Waltzes and Polkas. To round out the program, the band will play classical selections from Handel, Verdi, Rossini and Bellini, and finish with “Ashokan Farewell,” the theme from the Ken Burns’ documentary, “The Civil War.”
