The Malverne American Legion Post 44 held its annual Flag Day ceremony under the gazebo at Chester A. Reese Veterans Memorial Park on June 14. Dozens of veterans, residents and students from the public and parochial schools attended the annual event. During the ceremony, Post 44 members spoke about the meaning Flag Day, and handed out flag sets to the fourth- and fifth-grade winners of the “What the Flag Means to Me” essay contest. Village leaders that included Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett attended the celebration to take part in the festivities.
