McGlynn, 25, is a lifelong resident of Baldwin. He is single, with no children. He attended Baldwin schools and graduated high school in 2001.

McGlynn is currently attending Hofstra University, where he is completing a political science degree. He is an Iraq war veteran, having served with the U.S. Marines in Al Anbar Province from September 2008 to April 2009. He also served one year in Africa, and is currently a Marine reservist.

McGlynn said he is running to help bring "transparency and accountability" back to the Baldwin school board. He said he would fight to keep taxes under control, be a visible representative in the community, and work to ensure a quality education for Baldwin students.

"I will always keep the voice and concerns of the taxpaying citizens as my number-one priority," McGlynn said. "I will not be a tool of the administration, but a voice for the people of Baldwin. I will also make sure that there is no citizen left behind with his or her deepest concerns."
