High school evacuated after threatening message found

Building swept, cleared by police

Baldwin High School was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a threatening message was found in a bathroom.

Nassau County police and local firefighters were on the scene and did a sweep of the building, according to Cristina Schmohl, the school district’s public information officer. The building was cleared and students and staff returned inside around 1:40 p.m.

The message was discovered shortly after noon and referenced 12:30 p.m., Schmohl said. “They called police immediately and evacuated the building immediately,” she said of school officials.
