Lucie Arnaz’s “Latin Roots”
Lucie Arnaz evokes memories of her famous parents, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, when she visits the Landmark Theater in Port Washington with “Latin Roots.” Arnaz returns to Long Island with a powerful reinterpretation of the American Songbook to celebrate her father and his Latin roots. The concert evolved from her recently released CD of the same name, highlighting her father’s legacy, with material both directly taken from her father’s music and inspired by him.
Saturday, June 18, 8 p.m. $45 and $40; Jeanne Rimsky Theater, 232 Main St., Port Washington. (516) 767-6444 or www.landmarkonmainstreet.org.

Seasonal Delights

Poetic Expression
See the endangered piping plovers that nest on our beaches during spring and summer, at a Piping Plover Poetry Workshop presented at Jones Beach this weekend. Observe these special creatures, and with the piping plover as a muse, write about them with Nassau County’s first Poet Laureate, Maxwell C. Wheat Jr. To add to the artistic inspiration, guitarist/composer Jerry Ahern performs songs about Long Island. Bring a brown bag lunch.
Saturday, June 18, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center, Jones Beach, Wantagh. (516) 679-7254.
