Posted

For over 100 years, the sounds of band organ music have brought smiles to the faces of millions of people around the globe. From May 1 to May 2, the historic Nunley’s Carousel, which operated in Baldwin for decades, will host Long Island’s first Antique Band Organ Rally.

The Rally will feature a variety of mechanical organs of various sizes from a small monkey hand organ to a giant antique fair organ with hundreds of pipes. Experts and collectors from around the region will be on hand as these various organs are demonstrated for the general public. The Rally is being presented by the Lady Liberty Chapter of the American Musical Instrument Collector’s Association in collaboration with the American Carousel Organ Association of America.

Admission to the Rally is free and Nunley’s Carousel, with its own historic organ, will be playing all day. Rides on the carousel are $2 per person. The Rally will take place May 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nunley’s Carousel is located on Museum Row, Charles Lindbergh Blvd. in the East Garden City/Uniondale area. For information call (516) 572-4111 or visit www.cradleofaviation.org.
