Steve Martin – actor, playwright, comedian, songwriter and banjo player extraordinaire – has joined forces with the North Carolina band for a special collaboration of comedy and inventive musicianship. They’ll perform songs from the Grammy-nominated album Rare Bird Alert, with, of course, laughter and surprises along the way. In the roughly three years since Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers have been touring together they have delighted audiences at Bonnaroo, New Orleans’ Jazz Fest and The Newport Folk Festival, among other venues. They’ve embarked on four well-received tours with many critics noting Martin’s “exceptional musicianship.”

Mozart Festival
The sounds of Mozart fill the air at Old Westbury Gardens this weekend, the site of the annual Long Island Mozart Festival. This colorful venue for three days of music includes garden tours and much more at the family-friendly festival, designed to appeal to all ages. Mainstage concerts feature Grammy-nominated violinist Anastasia Khitruk performing Mozart and Beethoven Sonatas for Violin and Piano with pianist Elena Baksht, and the WYA United Nations Chamber Orchestra, with pianist Philip Edward Fisher, playing Mozart’s Divertimento in F Major, Divertimento in D Major, KV 136 and Piano Concerto No. 27, 595 in Bb, along with J.S. Bach’s Double Violin Concerto and Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. Other activities include a Mozart for Children program, crafts and a musical “petting zoo.”
