Professionals at Hearing & Speech Associates take pride in the fact that they truly care about their patients' hearing. They take the time to listen to each individual's particular hearing problems, lifestyle listening issues and specific needs, and then provide the best technology and the most appropriate counseling.

Audiologists Jan Miller and Bonnie Forman-Franco, who are both Doctors of Clinical Audiology, understand that while an individual may have a hearing loss, the entire family has the hearing problem. For this reason, they encourage family and friends to participate in hearing healthcare with their patients. As specialists in individual and family counseling for hearing loss, they also offer concerned, individually tailored, follow-up care.

Keeping up with the times, they demonstrate and offer all the new Bluetooth connectivity equipment to enhance hearing aid performance, particularly telephone and television clarity. Their long-established practice is based on state-of-the-art technology provided by dedicated hearing healthcare professionals.

On July 5, Drs. Forman-Franco and Miller celebrated 27 years of providing hearing services to South Shore residents. While offering expert hearing diagnostics and hearing aid fitting, they feel that their excellent reputation is based on genuinely caring about their patients. The thing they are most proud of is the high number of referrals they receive from their existing patients.

Their community outreach services include speaking about hearing loss and hearing-aid technology at the many community organizations surrounding their two offices: Hearing & Speech Associates in Island Park and The Plainview Hearing Center in Plainview. They often give talks at the local chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America (formerly "SHHH"). In-office seminars on a variety of important hearing topics are also offered, and soon, monthly "Ask the Audiologist" sessions will be given at their two locations.

Both Drs. Miller and Forman-Franco have long careers in the hearing healthcare field. Each is a certified member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Audiology and the Academy of Doctors of Audiology. They pride themselves on staying current with all the latest developments in hearing aid technology. Drs. Forman-Franco and Miller have each earned the ASHA Award for Continuing Education many times, and each has been named an "Academic Scholar" by the American Academy of Audiology.

Hearing healthcare is provided in a friendly, stress-free environment at both locations. Appointments feature complimentary demonstrations of appropriate amplification and assistive listening devices. Hearing aids are available at prices suitable for all patients. Discounts and pay-out options are set up to assist every person who needs hearing help to achieve their personal goals.

According to Drs. Miller and Forman-Franco, the first step for a person suspecting possible hearing difficulty is to have a diagnostic hearing test. They will make you feel comfortable about taking this very important first step, and will gently guide you through the process of obtaining hearing help.
