Sportsnite 2010

What is Sportsnite?

Posted

Sportsnite has been a Baldwin High School tradition since 1933, when it was created for women by Ethel T. Kloberg.

But this year, Baldwin had a male participating, in addition to the 150 girls.
Our coordinator, Mrs. Healy- Kurz, is responsible for all of the behind-the-scenes work and helping the teams out in tough situations. She and the other advisors have worked so hard to make this a good year.

The Gold team captains this year were Erica Grunwald and Taylor Scigliano. They created the theme, "Cupid’s Golden Arrow." It’s about two cupids-to-be who have to make through the Arrow Academy with the help of their teacher, Steve.

The stunt and dance captains were Brianna Nozdrovicky and Jessica Spinelli. They are very talented, and that is why they were chosen to be captains. Brianna, who is captain of varsity cheerleading, inspires the girls and created great stunts. Jessica, who loves to dance and is an excellent performer, will led Gold dance. The Gold Team’s stunt theme is "Golden Football League" (GLF) and the dance theme is "Gold Machine."

The Blue Team captains were Emily Clifford and Renee Charlot. The theme they chose was "Bed Rock Blues," which is about two women whose husbands were laid off, and thus they have to make money for their families.

The stunt and dance captains were Casey Cronin and Amanda Bickerton. Casey created wonderful stunts while Amanda, a very artistic dancer, helped develop a great performance. The stunt theme is "Blue Space Cadets" and the dance theme is "Battle of the Bluest."

Three months of hard work has paid off for the two teams, but most importantly, the bonds and friendships between the girls has created a support system for each team. The love they share will shine in their hearts forever, even until they get old. Maybe, in the future, the teammates will become each other's bridesmaids.

For seniors, this is their last year doing Sportsnite before going off to college. Surely they will come to future Sportsnite performances and enjoy the continuation of Baldwin’s greatest tradition — and legacy — that they were a part of.
