A Roosevelt man was arrested on Saturday in connection with a fatal assault at Bellmore’s Long Island Rail Road station, authorities said. Through a joint investigation, Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Nassau County police officials apprehended Niheim Levy, 34, and charged him in the death of a 49-year-old Freeport man. more

Orange-and-black monarch butterflies fought a strong headwind as they fluttered across Jones Beach State Park on Sept. 15 during their annual migration from northerly climes to Mexico.
