Editors and Reporters:

Herald Community Newspapers is an 18-edition chain of award winning local weekly newspapers.

We are looking for experienced journalists to report for and edit newspapers covering communities in
Franklin Square/Elmont, Malverne/West Hempstead, and Oyster Bay.

Qualified candidates must have the following:
• At least two years of newspaper experience in reporting and editing.
• Their own car and cell phone.
• Be willing to cover meeting and other local evening events.
• Long Island residency a strong plus.

Part-Time Customer Service Clerk:

We have an excellent opportunity for a PT 5 days/week Customer Service Clerk in our busy Circulation Dept.

Basic customer service & administrative responsibilities - working on the computer system, answering phones,  
making phone calls, entering orders, faxing, filing, etc.

Qualified candidates must be computer literate, reliable, organized, energetic, detail oriented and be able to 
multi-task and work well under deadlines.

Part-Time Staff Accountant:

We are seeking a hands-on PT Staff Accountant to handle all aspects of credit/collections, A/R,
creation of job tickets and invoicing.

Some of the responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Proactive and effective collection of past due accounts to ensure quick and consistent return on A/R
• Responsible for weekly reporting of collections status
• Determine when accounts should be placed on credit hold
• Determine when the accounts should be referred to an outside agency for further collection efforts
• Work closely with sales staff to ensure proper billing and collection of delinquent accounts and provide information 
to sales staff on high-risk accounts
• Ability to reconcile A/R Accounts
• Ability to identify A/R operational problems and issues and to identify and implement workable solutions
• Ability to create management reports in MS Excel
• Ability to write collection letters and other formal customer correspondence in MS Word

Key Requirements:
• Credit/collection and billing experience in a similar role in a mid-sized company
• Advanced computer skills, especially in MS Excel, as well as experience in A/R and credit processing systems
• Advanced phone skills/etiquette and ability to interact with customers
• Strong analytical and planning skills
• Track record of successful credit experience, especially in regards to handling customer disputes, and proposing
and implementing solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to work independently with all levels of sales 
and management and show a strong sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task

This position is currently part-time, approximately 24 hours per week/8 hours per day. Some flexibility in schedule, 
however Monday is a required scheduled day.

Digital Marketing and Sales Intern:

We are looking for a motivated, tech-savvy and energetic individual to join our marketing team in
a highly visible internship position, possibly extending into a part time position.

As a Digital Marketing and Sales Intern, you’ll be responsible for supporting the back end system for
our expanding digital sales division, including uploading new content, identifying new opportunities
and helping provide our marketing team with the technological tools needed to drive growth.

If you are responsible, creative and willing to learn, this is a great opportunity.  IT, computer support or
digital experience a major plus. Social media knowledge is also helpful.
