Bonilla sentenced to community service, fine

Mark Bonilla of Bellmore, the former Town of Hempstead clerk, was sentenced to community service and a fine on Monday. Bonilla was found guilty of one count of official misconduct stemming from sexual harassment allegations, which were investigated by town officials last year, on July 25. Justice Sharon Gianelli decided the case alone because Bonilla waived his right to a jury trial. He faced up to one year in jail prior to sentencing. more

‘Princesses L.I.’ is familiar Bravo shtick

Somewhere between the flashes of wealth, prideful professions of parental dependency, Jewish cultural caricatures and frequent debauchery, acrimony and hysteria, a picture of young Jewish women on Long Island emerges on “Princesses Long Island,” the Bravo TV show that debuted on June 2, and it isn’t flattering. Richner Communications to acquire L&M Publications

Publishers Clifford and Stuart Richner announced July 10 that Richner Communications has agreed to acquire L&M Publications, a Long Island weekly newspaper group that includes the Merrick Life, Bellmore Life, Freeport-Baldwin Leader and the Wantagh-Seaford Citizen. Both Richner Communications and L&M are privately held companies, and terms of the sale were not announced. The sale is expected to close this quarter. more

N. Bellmore firefighter charged with arson

A North Bellmore Fire Department volunteer was recently arrested and charged with setting fire to a car outside a local home, authorities said.Nassau County Police Department officials said that Matthew Greve, 25, was charged with third-degree arson at his arraignment on July 3. The felony charge stems from a May incident in which he allegedly set another man’s car on fire on purpose. more
