"This isn’t cocaine. This isn’t a Saturday-Sunday drug. It’s 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year," Bill Flanagan, the Nassau County Police Department’s second deputy commissioner, told the assembly of 20 elected leaders, law enforcement officials, drug-treatment specialists and educators at Levittown Public Library on Thursday. more

Heroin task force to meet Jan. 21
Members of the Assembly Minority Task Force on Crime in Our Communities will hold a public forum with Nassau County police, prosecutors, elected officials and educators on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Levittown Library. The task force will tackle the growing use of heroin in Nassau County and will discuss programs and technology that are available to combat the sale and distribution of this illegal drug. more
