Two workers were seriously injured in Lynbrook on Saturday when the pole they were both holding was blown into a power line, causing a severe shock to both men. According to Nassau County detectives, the men, who were working for Brook Window Cleaning, headquartered on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, were preparing to wash the windows at Bank of America, at 300 Merrick Road, using 
a telescoping washing pole. Nicholas Genovese 58, of Staten Island, and his co-worker, Alan Weinberg 64, of Long Beach, were standing on the ground, both holding the bottom of the pole. Weinberg was “footing” — or bracing — the pole while Genovese was walking it up the building when a gust of wind blew the pole into a nearby power line. The Bank of America on Main Street in East Rockaway was robbed late Tuesday afternoon for the second time in three months. Police detectives investigated at the scene as a police helicopter flew overhead. Fourth precinct police described the man as being white, wearing a blue, sleeveless shirt, with a crew-cut hair style and looking "like a construction worker." They said he may have gotten into a red car. They did not reveal if a weapon was used in the robbery, or how much money was taken. more
A man wearing a navy blue hooded jacket, a Yankees baseball cap, and sunglasses entered the Bank of America on Main Street in East Rockaway on Monday and presented a note to the teller demanding money, according to police. more
