by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan Emergency Medical Company and the Extrication Team responded to a reported auto accident at the intersection of Peninsula Blvd and Hempstead Avenue at approximately 10 a.m. on April 1. Upon arriving at the scene, Lynbrook police officers, followed by Second Deputy Chief Anthony DeCarlo, found the driver of the vehicle involved had driven into a curb on the corner after swerving from a turning tractor trailer truck in the intersection.   The vehicle and the truck never collided, however a second vehicle received minor damage from the first vehicle, whose driver was taken to South Nassau by the Medical Company. The Extrication Team stood by. more

A man driving a 2005 Toyota Camry crashed into a tree at Ocean Avenue and Ruth Place in Lynbrook at about 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 7, injuring himself and his 3-year-old twins, a boy and a girl who were in car seats in the back seat of the vehicle. The girl died three days after the accident, according to police officials. more
Police arrested Christopher Adams, 33, of East Rockaway, after he drove over the curb and crashed into The Fishery at One Main St. in East Rockaway on Nov. 26. According to police, Adams was operating his 2000 Nissan Mini Van while DWI impaired when he drove over the curb and crashed into the building next to the main restaurant. more
Hot wheels On Oct. 23, the Lynbrook Fire Department responded to a working car fire in the parking lot along Peninsula Blvd. between Earle and Vincent avenues. Truck Company, Vulcan Company and Hose Company responded to the scene under the command of First Deputy Chief Mike Hynes. Firefighters were at the scene for about 20 minutes.  more
