Local police say they have arrested a Queens man for committing several sexual crimes over the past couple of weeks, including following a woman in Elmont last Friday, while he was armed with a hammer.

A Queens man was arrested on Jan. 2 for hurling glass bottles filled with flaming gasoline at four locations in Queens and at the home of his brother-in-law in Elmont on New Year’s Day, according to the New York City Police Department.

An Elmont man was arrested on Nov. 28, along with a woman from Virginia, and charged with the abduction of a deaf woman from a Brooklyn street that occurred earlier that day.

The New York State Senate has passed legislation to enact felony charges for wrong-way and other reckless drivers, according to Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr., a Republican from Merrick who sponsored the bill.
The legislation is in response to a significant number of arrests and car crashes involving individuals who drove the wrong way while under the influence of alcohol.
