U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara added more charges to the indictment against Senator Dean Skelos and his son, Adam, late in the day on Tuesday, July 21.
Skelos, 67, and his son Adam, 32, were already charged with six counts stemming from what Bharara said was a scheme in which Skelos was trading favors with businesses in exchange for payments made to his son.

The bills came just days after it was revealed publicly that federal prosecutors are investigating Dean Skelos, Republican majority leader of the State Senate, and his son, Adam, in connection with AbTech Industries, an Arizona company that hired the latter and received a $12 million storm-water treatment contract from Nassau County, even though another company submitted a lower bid.

New York State Senate candidate Michael Venditto, a Republican from Massapequa, is running for the 8th Senate District seat vacated by Charles Fuschillo Jr., a Merrick Republican, in January. Venditto’s one-time opponent, David Denenberg, a Democrat from Merrick, recently dropped out of the race amid civil fraud charges leveled at him by his former law firm, Davidoff Hutcher & Citron.
