Five area chambers of commerce came together at Crossroads Farm at Grossmann’s last week for the West Hempstead Chamber of Commerce’s 4th annual multi-chamber event. “We had the West Hempstead, Franklin Square, Elmont, Hempstead and Malverne chambers of commerce there,” said Patti Locurcio, the West Hempstead chamber’s secretary. Todd Kaminsky filed legislation requiring the commissioner of the New York State Department of Health to study and regulate 1,4-dioxane, a chemical likely to be carcinogenic, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Last year, the EPA released a report, citing dioxane was found in many water supply systems on Long Island. more
