Rebuilding ground zero

On Aug. 5, I traveled to ground zero in Lower Manhattan to photograph the epicenter of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil, nearly 10 years later. A group of Central District officials and students went to Hangar 17 at Kennedy Airport last week to inspect the rusted girder that will form the centerpiece of the monument.
