Belmont Park prepares to open for fall meet

With 21 graded stakes worth $5 million, Belmont Park’s 2011 fall meet will showcase a stellar lineup of champions-in-the-making when it opens for its 37-day meet on Sept. 10. Grandstand admission will be free during opening weekend. more

Belmont Park’s spring meet a success

Nothing could stop Belmont Park’s Opening Day from operating smoothly. The sun beamed onto the horse track, and thousands of visitors hustled to place bets and watch the races throughout the day. The excitement was palpable. Despite an overnight natural gas leak that caused the closure of Hempstead Turnpike just east of Belmont Park in Elmont for several hours last Friday, Belmont Park’s 2011 spring meet began at 10:45 a.m., as scheduled. Emergency repairs were undertaken immediately after the leak was discovered and the road was reopened just before Belmont Park’s spring meet. more

"Boy Meets World” was a great show. Seriously, I looked forward to it every week. ABC’s T.G.I.F. lineup on Friday nights was awesome. “Boy Meets World” was my favorite of those Friday night shows. One character in particular was special to me — and to most people in my age group — and that was Mr. Feeny. more
